The spanner in question is Covid!

Christmas was always going to be tough and weird. It being the first without Mum. As if that was not enough, I was supposed to have a root canal filling shortly before the holiday. Only to find the tooth was fractured, couldn't be saved, and needed extracting.

This is scheduled for Jan 9th. I was sent home with antibiotics. The tooth began to ache a lot so I embarked on the tried and tested alternating paracetamol and iboprofen. I'm still on them. What began in the tooth seemed to spread to my sinuses. Excruciating to the point where I wanted to rip the front of my skull off!

Four days into it Mel, my wife, came down with a head cold that went to her chest. A couple of days later she tested Covid positive and the day after so did I. Now on the 30th Phoebe is also positive. What a bunch of sicko's.

My tooth is now mostly painless but I'm still under the Covid cosh. Sinus pain, shivers, muscle and joint aches and a headache that will not go away. Brain fog is the worst now. I'm not looking for sympathy but I estimate at least another week before I dare return to re-writing my book. I don't feel I could trust anything I write will be any good. That will be two and a half weeks on the sidelines.

My hyperactive mind plays many tricks on me when I'm sick but that's going to be the subject of another blog post.

Instead, I'm tinkering with my beautiful new author website. More on this soon.

I hope you and all your loved ones are OK and stay clear of this bug. It may not be so much of a killer these days but it is vedry unpleasant and remains highly contagious.
